Detoxification is a popular claim for many diets, cleanses and nutrition products like detox water.Detox products often claim to facilitate health and well-being by eliminating toxins from the body and aiding in weight loss.

Detox water is one of the most popular and easy way to cleanse your body. It also helps lose weight and supplements your body with water soluble vitamins and minerals. Water itself is an effective fat burner and along with exercise, you are sure to lose that excess amount of unwanted fat. Here are 13 detox water recipes that would definitely help you lose weight and cleanse your body, along with a proper exercise routine.

Money cannot buy everything. You cannot buy health; it needs to be earned through healthy living and a healthy outside begins with a healthy inside. The human body has an endless number of toxins and therefore we need to cleanse it or in better words, we need to Detox.

Benefits of Detox water

As it only contains the flavors, the water contains minimal if any additional calories. It is believed that this detox water will rid your body of toxins, improvedigestive health, improve mood and complexion, aid in weight loss and boost your energy. The combination of ingredients in detox water can vary greatly.

The benefits of detoxification are plentiful especially for dieters.  Even while trying to lose weight, the requirement for nutrients, vitamins and mineral remain the same which can be taken care of by consuming Detox water to a large extent. 

We all know the positive impact it has on the skin, hair and weight, but what we miss is the role it plays on freshening up our internal system. 
  1. Bad breath- A common reason for bad breath is the bacteria & toxins accumulated in the colon. In the initial days you might feel it worsen but just in a couple of days positive results are seen.  Detox water helps the colon to get rid of the toxins, wastes and free radicals and in turn help you get rid of these toxins and in turn bad breath.

  3. Revitalizes the kidney- Detox water is a natural diuretic which makes you urinate more frequently. This results in the body getting rid of the toxins making the kidney cleanse itself. One becomes less prone to urinary tract infections and other diseases by consuming detox water.
  4. Improves digestion- Lemon infused detox water helps the system to increase the in production of digestive juices. This makes it lot easier for the stomach to function smoothly. It has very positive effect on the people suffering with inflammatory bowel, acidity, etc.
  5. Boosts immunity- As the detox water helps in getting rid of toxins, wastes and free radicals, it improves the immunity as the body responses better in event that bacteria or virus may attack. Also because an added dose of vitamin C reaches the body, it improves the immunity.
Water has a soothing effect on the body but nothing could be better than Detox water. It makes one feel good and fresh all day. It rejuvenates and revitalizes the whole body making it more responsive to whatever we eat or drink and also makes you feel light. 
Recommended Intake of Detox Water
As mentioned above, it’s impossible to give a single recommendation when looking at how much detox water you should take in each day due to do activity levels, formulas, and preferences. However, for each group of people, a general guideline can be given.
Sedentary adults
For sedentary adults, a lower amount of both nutrients and water intake is needed when compared to more active individuals like athletes. However, this doesn’t mean that a low intake of water or nutrients is good for you.
In fact, nearly all of the recommended daily amounts of the different nutrients you take in each day are based on a relatively sedentary person. 
So, you should still take care to get in enough detox water each day.
For most sedentary adults, this means taking in roughly 6-8 glasses of detox water each day. Also, the detox water ingredients included in each of the waters should be varied to ensure you’re getting in plenty of nutrients.
Active Individuals
One other issue with general recommendations is that they’re usually divided into two criteria: sedentary people who don’t exercise at all, and high level athletes who can train at high intensities up to twice daily. 
This means that those who are only recreationally active, exercising two to three times per week, are often recommended too high of an intake of different nutrients and water.
For those who are active and exercise moderately, they should look at taking in 8-12 glasses of detox water each day. Just like with sedentary people, they should also look at carrying their detox water recipes for a holistic detox water cleanse.
Athletes
Recommendations for athletes are usually part of a different realm compared to that of sedentary, or even moderately active, individuals.
This is because athletes are not always exercising to improve their health, and are usually training to become better at a given skill or activity. So, when making recommendations for athletes, the idea is to help boost performance, speed up recovery, or prevent injury. 
This means that the recommendations are highly context-specific, and can change depending on the sport or activity the athlete is training for, or even what part of training camp they’re currently in.
In general, long-distance endurance athletes, such as marathon runners or long distance cyclists or swimmers will need a greater amount of detox water due to increased sweating and nutrient use than strength or power athletes like weightlifters and sprinters. 
Mixed athletes, like soccer players or boxers, will be in-between these two groups in terms of recommendations.
Endurance athletes should aim for around 12-15 glasses of detox water each day. Meanwhile, strength and power athletes should look at taking in roughly the same as moderately active people at 10-12 glasses each day.
Mixed athletes can fall between these two recommendations as they feel necessary.

Should You Drink Detox Water Even If You Don’t Sweat?

Yes.
As seen from above, even those who do no physical activity are recommended to take in plenty of water and a range of other nutrients. This is because the body uses water in a wide range of bodily functions, not just sweating to cool the body.
Physical activity of any kind also causes them to speed up or increase many of these processes, thereby increasing the need for water and nutrient intake. So, even if you’re not sweating, drinking detox water can have beneficial effects on your health and fitness.

When To Limit Detox Water

However, as mentioned at the beginning of this article, there are times where you are better off reducing your detox water intake. These are each looked at below.
1.When Ingredients Include Caffeine
One such case is when your detox recipes contain a significant amount of caffeine, such as with some detox tea recipes.
The reason for this reduction is that excessive caffeine consumption can cause a few issues, including trouble sleeping, increased anxiety and even a higher blood pressure and heart rate.
So, if you’re mixing a lot of tea in with your detox water ingredients, you may want to reduce your intake of detox water, or just reduce the ones in high in caffeine.
2. 2-4 Hours Before Bed
While increasing water intake overall can be beneficial, taking in too much water before bed can cause sleep disturbance through increasing trips to the bathroom throughout the night.
As a general rule, start decreasing your detox water intake 3 to 4 hours before bed and cut it out completely 2 hours before you want to go to sleep.

Conclusion

How much detox water to take in each day is a question that many people overlook when considering a detox water cleanse. However, matching your water and nutrient intake to your lifestyle and detox diet is essential to maximize its benefits and minimize any detrimental effects.
In general, athletes and moderately active people should take in more detox water than sedentary adults.
However, the amount drank each day should be minimized if your detox water recipes have a high caffeine content. You should also taper down this intake a few hours before bed to ensure that it won’t interfere with your sleep duration or sleep quality.

Please note: For all recipes, one liter of water is to be used.
For every detox water recipe below, the preparation steps are pretty much the same:
  1.  Drop ingredients in the bottom of a pitcher or fruit infuser bottle.
  2. Cover with ice about 1/2 way through then fill to top with water.
  3. You can refill the container 2-3 times before it begins to lose flavor.


1.      Apple and Cinnamon Detox Water
One of my favorite detox water recipes: it reduces the risk of cancer, lowers blood pressure and balance sugar levels.
You need:
Apple – 1, thinly sliced
Cinnamon – 1 stick
2.      Citrus and Aloe Detox Water
This amazing detox water recipe is great for fat loss and it cures digestive problems especially, constipation.
You need,
Any citrus fruit of your choice – Quarter
Aloe gel – scrape it from Aloe Vera plant and add around a spoon of it

A good squeeze of lime
Mint leaves – 4-5
3.       Watermelon, Cucumber and Lemon Detox Water
It is one of the tastier detox water recipes and helps lower blood sugar levels and blood pressure.
You need,
Watermelon – 2 slices, cut into 4

Cucumber- 1 small, sliced
Lemon – 1/2, sliced
4.      Lemon and Ginger Detox Water
If you love ginger like me, then this detox water recipe is just recipe for you! Regular consumption of lemon-ginger water not only cleanses your body but also helps burn fat.
You need,
Lemon – 1, sliced

Ginger – ½, diced
